BASE is excited to announce the opening of a new artist-led space in the city of Lincoln. Co-founded by Oliver Ventress and Madara Vimba, BASE is a contemporary exhibition space and artist studios, built to support and connect artists locally, regionally and nationally. ​

To launch the new artist-led space, BASE hosted its first ever exhibition in the city of Lincoln, showcasing work from 45 artists with a connection to Lincoln. 

​

Exclusively for the launch, the exhibition took over the whole building, across two floors in four rooms, showcasing a diverse range of contemporary artworks, from paintings and prints to sculptures and performance, including works never before seen and reworked specifically for this exhibition.

We also had the exciting opportunity to work with Katie Seller, a current MA Arts and Cultural Management student at the University of Lincoln. As part of a consultancy project, we pitched a challenge of what BASE could offer artists outside of a physical space, and what role it can play online, stretching beyond the traditional artist talks and online sessions. 

 

We are excited to introduce the first iteration of a virtual gallery space, where the launch exhibition sits online, allowing it to live on beyond the exhibition duration and act as both a way to reach new audiences, as well as an interactive archive.
